Hello everyone! I'm excited to be here with the cover reveal for the latest anthology from the Author Conservatory, Voices of the Future; Stories of Whimsy and Warriors!

Now, I'm pretty sure any anthology from the Conservatory will be good, but it's this one that I'm particularly excited about, for three reasons...

1. A grand total of 4! authors I've known / followed for awhile are all in this anthology!

  1. I especially love the theme / title of this one! (Whimsy and warriors? Oh yeah. I'm the kind of gal who likes both elements.)

  2. One red warhorse. cough I mean a historical fiction story with a war horse.

So, without further ado, take a look a look at this gorgeous cover!

So what do you think? I think it matches the anthology so perfectly <3 the copper tones and color are so beautiful.

Probably the story I'm most excited for in this anthology is Til the Mountain Burns by Cristiana Moyer. This is the story with the red war horse ;) Any story with a horse written by someone who knows and understands horses is going to intrigue me. There's far too few of those in the book world. Here's the blurb for it:

To provide for her crippled father, Eirene works in the cavalry stables of the ancient Greek island of Kerkyra. But one night when an enemy unit kills the watchman on the mountain’s beacon and invades the city outskirts, everything changes.

Because the watchman is dead and the beacon unlit, the rest of the villagers slumber, unaware of the conflict—and Eirene is the only one who sees from her hiding place on the roof that the enemy navy is sailing on the horizon, coming to invade the unsuspecting island.

In order to save her home, Eirene must ride up the mountain to light the beacon. If she fails to ignite the warning flame and alert her people, they will be destroyed with no chance to defend themselves.

There’s just one problem. The only horse she can take is Aethon, the stallion that crippled her father.

And he is terrified of fire.

And Cristina is also offering preorder goodies! Anyone who preorders through her will get two stickers and a bookmark themed after her story. So be sure to check that out!

I'm also intrigued about Anna Galicinski's story "Under the Blitz Sky" (which takes place during the London Blitz) and Hollis Wakefield's "The Rose-Tinted Glasses" (which deals with deep themes and has a one legged seagull sidekick character. Awesome, right?)

In short, for me, I think this might be the best anthology the Conservatory has released yet <3 And I can't wait to read it!

Until the next blog post, may you be blessed,

-Abby 💜
